Everybody has a story, and when a young women is lured to a travelling artisan market that draws them from its patrons, she’s compelled to reconsider her own.

Serena Devereaux’s introversion isn’t a personality quirk. It’s penance. But her quiet life shatters when, as she rests by Vancouver’s seaside, a stray dog steals her bag and leaves it dangling on a temporary fence by the city pier. In reaching for it, Serena topples into four canopy tents, newly erected for a travelling artisan fair. The vendors accept her offer of help to make amends, and welcome her into their strange and ethereal market, open only at night.

There is a subtle, poignant energy in Night Market, woven through wares that guide patrons to lost memories and soothe buried wounds. Serena is enthralled… until she discovers the painting. A red oak door in a forest of color, situated between two trees, leading seemingly to nowhere. She knows this door. It’s real, and the site of a shameful story she’s desperate to hide from her newfound family.

But as the present starts to echo the past, it’s clear the Market’s kind, eccentric proprietor–and his dog–know more about the painting than they should. Trusting them would reveal the truth. She could be shunned. Again. However, it might also prevent another tragedy like that which occurred at The Door Between No Walls.

She spent most of her adult life wandering the planet, doing everything from training dolphins to travel sales, and collected tales along the way. Inspired by Matt Haig, she writes to pass on the lessons she’s learned surrounding mental health and wellness.
